Minnesota criminal cases are often complicated and confusing regardless of whether you have been accused of a misdemeanor or a felony. Your future, relationships, and finances are on the line, and you need someone on your side who understands how to protect your interests.
At Wolfgram Law Firm, we have years of experience successfully helping our clients deal with various charges in Minnesota. People seek out our law firm because of our ability to achieve results and because they know they deserve an attorney with the dedication and skill to see their case through to the end.
When you choose to work with us, you get a Minnesota law firm that sees you as a person—not a case number. That is why we always strive to provide exceptional service to our clients. We are responsive and always respond to questions and concerns in a timely manner. We ask many questions to understand clients’ perspectives on the case and what they hope to achieve.
We are a results-oriented firm that always seeks to exceed our clients’ expectations and deliver a successful strategy that will help them protect their rights and future. We aim to get a “not guilty” verdict from a jury if possible. If the facts of your case make a jury trial risky, we work to get your charges reduced, dropped, or dismissed or to help you avoid conviction by adopting a rehabilitation plan for you before a judge decides your fate.
In our state, criminal offenses are divided into misdemeanors and felony offenses based on the severity of the alleged crime. Misdemeanors in Minnesota are considered less severe crimes – but do not let that give you a false sense of security. You can still face up to three months in jail if you are convicted and must pay thousands of dollars in fines and other court-related costs. Gross misdemeanors are more significant and can send you to jail for up to one year upon conviction and even more in fines than a misdemeanor.
The penalties for felonies are even harsher. Unlike some other states, Minnesota does not have a standardized classification system for felony crimes. Instead, every felony has unique penalties associated with it if convicted, which means each felony charge carries individual repercussions. Depending on what you get charged with, a conviction for a felony can land you in prison for decades – or even life – in addition to many other consequences for the rest of your life.
